It all started when award-winning knitwear designer Zoe Mellor moved from London to Brighton
Zoe had her first baby, and the company Toby Tiger (named after her son) was born!
1999
2001
Zoe opened her first little shop in Brighton, selling early Toby tiger printed t-shirts and applique designs for babies and kids.
Zoe started selling to various stockists and dreaming up new colourful designs.
2002
2003
Zoe’s second baby was born, and like all parents who love to move house when just having had a baby, she also moved Toby Tiger to the new, more extensive shop in Gardner Street, Brighton – where we still can be found today!

After six months of building works, a holey roof and a resident pigeon, the shop was finally ready to open.

2004
2006
Toby Tiger was in demand from small and more significant stores, and the brand was growing. Zoe’s love and commitment to using organic cotton in bright colours were born – there was no one doing colourful organic kidswear…. we were the first!

We outgrew the shop as a place to store our products, and boxes began to live in Zoe’s kitchen, home, office, and studio.

2008
2020
We moved our growing collection to our warehouse in Lancing. This lovely new warehouse meant that the Toby tiger offices had more space and that Zoe’s house was no longer doubling as a warehouse, much to her family’s joy.

Zoe opened the German sister company in Berlin so that Toby Tiger could continue to be sold to our fabulous European stockists.

2021
2022
The Toby Tiger German warehouse and office opened. Zoe moved to Berlin to build our German office and warehouse, where we love to sell to all of our EU stockists!

Zoe mainly lives in Berlin and loves a good Teams call with her small, brilliant Toby Tiger team in the UK, who continue spreading the Toby Tiger ethos whilst the seagulls squawk in the background….
